Obtaining Your Accident Report from NYPD’s 9th Precinct
After a car accident in New York City, the police officer who responds to the scene will typically create an official MV-104AN crash report. This document contains important information about the accident, including the date, location, drivers involved, and the officer’s observations. It can be a key piece of evidence when filing an insurance claim or pursuing compensation after a collision.
If your accident occurred within the 9th Precinct’s jurisdiction, you can obtain a copy of the report in one of three ways:
Online Through the NYPD Collision Report Retrieval Portal
The quickest way to obtain your accident report is through the NYPD Collision Report Retrieval Portal. Reports are typically available within seven business days after the crash.
To locate the report, you may need details such as the date of the accident, the location, and the names of the drivers involved. Once you find the report, you can pay a small fee and download a certified copy.
In Person at the Precinct
You can also request the report directly from the NYPD 9th Precinct. Bring a NYPD 9th Precinct, basic information about the crash, and payment for any applicable fees. Availability depends on when the report is processed.
By Mail
If you cannot access the report online or visit the precinct, you may request it by mail. Your Request for Copy of a Collision Report should include the date and location of the crash, the drivers’ names, the involved drivers’ license plate numbers, a photocopy of your photo ID, a self-addressed envelope, and the required fee. Once processed, the report will be mailed to you.
